7/28/20 RECORDING SESSION - Made two CD-Rs, one a burn of my track "paradise tremolo bitcrush resophaser" (on my Bandcamp) pitched down an
octave, and one a collection of 20+ one-shot samples from
Splice.com, all chords in (theoretically) compatible keys. - Hooked up the following two FX chains to
the Eiki 7070: 1. Eiki -> Korg mini Kaoss Pad -> Rowin Looper -> Strymon El Capistan Tape Echo 2. Eiki -> Lexicon MX200 -> Boss Reverb RV-6 Recorded each
chain in discrete stereo channels. - Did three passes, manipulating both FX chains in real time: AO1 (10:07): Paradise CD-R - Held the fast-forward button down.
AO2 (19:21): Paradise CD-R - Liberal use of the pitch up/down buttons. (Really enjoyed the sound of the pitch shift curving back to zero when I hit the "Normal"
button.) AO3 (17:39): Splice CD-R - Engaged the Random and Repeat All modes, so the Eiki would indefinitely play the samples/chords in a sequence decided
by chance. 8/2/20 SESSION - Burned AO1-AO3 to a CD-R, then dubbed it to cassette using an old Sentry C-60 I had lying around. A cassette playback issue
on the Eiki resulted in it sounding fine through the Eiki’s speakers, but from the headphone outs I got almost pure hiss in one ear and in the other, along with the
actual sound, a loud organ-like drone. This channel happened to be going through an input on my audio interface with a really scratchy switch that I started
applying varying pressure to, creating gaps and glitches. However, on listening back, it didn’t sound all that great or listenable on its own. I made “mix2” versions
of AO1 / AO2 / AO3 that don’t use the cassette dub; AO2 and AO3 are both 15 mins now so if I run out of time, those could be the sides. Ideally either AO2 or AO3
would be one side, and AO1 + a shorter, less-droney track would be the other. Still trying to find my way toward that one, though. 8/8/20 SESSION - I
decided to make use of the phenomenon where just about any looped sound takes on musically rhythmic qualities. I took sections of the weird cassette playback
and looped them in my DAW, so the arbitrary scratches and bumps turned into percussion, and sequenced them with mild adherence to conventional arrangement
